Game Day Wings

Fall game-day spread with garlic-Parmesan and buffalo wings, football decor, and September text: My Real New Year.

If September is getting us back in the game, we might as well have something good to eat while we’re there.

One batch of crispy oven-baked wings. Two ways to finish them.

Crispy Oven-Baked Wings

Ingredients

  • 2–3 lbs. chicken wings

  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp aluminum-free baking powder (optional, for extra-crispy skin)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper. If you have a wire rack, place it on top of the baking sheet for crispier wings.

  2. Pat the wings very dry with paper towels.

  3. Toss the wings with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and baking powder, if using.

  4. Arrange the wings in a single layer, leaving a little space between them.

  5. Bake for 40–45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown, crispy, and cooked through.

Now choose your team.

Garlic-Parmesan Wings

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp butter

  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2–3 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 tbsp fresh or dried parsley

Directions

Melt the butter in a small pan. Add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant.

Toss the hot wings in the garlic butter.

Sprinkle generously with Parmesan and parsley and serve immediately.

Buffalo Wings

Ingredients

  • ½ cup Frank’s Red Hot or your favorite hot sauce

  • 3 tbsp butter

Directions

Melt the butter and stir in the hot sauce until combined.

Toss the hot wings in the Buffalo sauce until evenly coated.

Serve with celery sticks and ranch or blue cheese.

Pick Your Side

Garlic-Parmesan or Buffalo?

Or do what I would do and make half of each.

Because choosing wisely does not necessarily mean choosing only one.
