The Game Day Spark Affirmation

Autumn desk by open window with candle, pen, mug and notes reading September: Get Back in the Game and One Goal.

Why September?

We tend to think of January as the month for fresh starts, but September has always had its own reset button.

For most of us, that rhythm was programmed early. September meant back to school, new schedules, new notebooks, new routines, and the beginning of another year of possibilities.

We may have stopped buying school supplies, but our brains remember.

September still carries that feeling of “Okay, summer’s over. What’s next?”

And unlike January—with all its pressure to reinvent yourself overnight—September feels a little more practical.

You’ve lived most of the year already. You know what worked. You know what didn’t.

Now you get to decide what you want to do with the rest of it.

You don’t need a new year to make a fresh start. Sometimes you just need a new season.

What you will need

One red candle

A small piece of paper

A pen

Light the candle.

Write down one goal you want to start moving forward before the end of the year.

Underneath it, write:

My next move is: ____________.

Don’t write the whole game plan. Just the next move.

Read it aloud, then say:

“I know where I’m going. I choose my next move. I’m back in the game.”

Fold the paper once and place it beside the candle.

Let the candle burn for a few minutes while you picture yourself actually taking that first step.

Then blow out the candle.

Keep the paper somewhere you’ll see it.

And then?

Make the move.

Magic works better when you give it something to work with.
