The Tarot Threes Growth in Motion

The grouping of the Tarot Three of Cups, Swords, Wands, & Pentacles as based on the Rider - Waite - Smith deck 1909

If Twos are about decisions and connection, Threes represent what happens after you say yes.

Threes represent more than two people. They mark the moment of growth, expansion, and external development. You're building on something already in motion — a relationship that's evolving, a project that's taking form, or a truth that's ready to be shared.

Every suit expresses that growth differently:

  • In Wands, it’s progress — ships coming in, or going out.

  • In Cups, it’s celebration — friendship, community, shared joy.

  • In Swords, it’s heartbreak — when truth pierces and transforms.

  • In Pentacles, it’s collaboration — building something real with others.

The Tarot Threes remind us: You’re not starting not starting over. You're building on what you’ve already chosen — and now, it’s time to grow. Think growth in motion.

All tarot card imagery in this series is based on the Rider–Waite–Smith deck (1909), illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith under the direction of Arthur Edward Waite. Now in the public domain.
