Why I Rebranded At 71

A rocking chair with a blanket on a porch at sunset, overlooking a green field. A closed laptop and mug rest on the wooden floor.

Last June, I got tired of waiting.

Waiting for the phone to ring.

Waiting for the right people to find me.

Waiting for the business to feel like it had finally caught up with who I actually was.

It wasn’t happening fast enough to keep me entertained, and if you know me, that’s a dangerous point to reach.

So I did what any clarity-driven woman with a loud brain and a low tolerance for drift eventually does: I rebranded.

At 71.

I changed the tone.

I changed the direction.

And more than anything, I stopped trying to keep growing in soil that didn’t fit me anymore.

That’s really what rebranding was for me.

Not a logo.

Not a font.

Not some fancy business makeover.

A replanting.

A decision to stop waiting for something outside of me to finally click and instead start building something that actually felt like mine.

This month marks one year since I made that decision.

And if I’ve learned anything, it’s this:

You are not too old.

You are not too late.

And you do not need permission to plant again.

Sometimes the grass isn’t growing because it’s the wrong field.

Sometimes the life you’re trying to revive has already run its course.

And sometimes the most honest thing you can do is stop watering the wrong thing.

So if you’ve been feeling behind, stuck, irrelevant, or like your season has already passed, let me say this clearly:

It hasn’t.

You can still replant.

You can still rebuild.

You can still decide that the next version of your life gets to sound more like you.

That’s what I did.

And honestly?

It was about time.
